Product Details
Rolled Gold Mid Century Cleopatra fringe necklace by Kordes & Litchtenfels. The construction of this is outstanding with each little piece able to move to the shape of the body, it is flawless. Kordes & Lichtenfels (K&L) actively used the "Americ" (or Amerik) mark alongside their crown symbol from the early 1950s through the late 1970s. But this piece was likely made in the early 1960s due to the 1963 "Cleopatra" Craze: While structural panel necklaces were emerging in late 1950s design, the release of the monumental Hollywood film Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor in 1963 ignited a massive global fashion craze. "AMERIC" or "AMERIK" is short for Amerikaner. Amerikaner jewelry was built to last for decades without the gold wearing through, which is why this piece remains in excellent condition. A highly collectable piece which holds its value.
