What makes this example especially appealing is the survival of its decorative period dust jacket, featuring an elegant blue-gray front panel with gilt-toned lettering, ornamental borders, and a violin motif. The spine retains the title, author’s surname, publisher, and another decorative violin design. The rear panel contains a period advertisement for Grosset & Dunlap fiction, giving the jacket additional historical and bibliographic interest. The book itself is an attractive example of turn-of-the-century romantic fiction, with 16 chapters including The Master Plays, “Mine Cremona,” The Gift of Peace, The Light of Dreams, and Afraid of Life.
