A striking interwar German porcelain shell-form dish by K. Steinmann of Tiefenfurt, dating to approximately 1919–1932. The underside carries the distinctive “DRESDEN” over crown over “GERMANY” backstamp documented for Steinmann pieces marketed in the Dresden decorative style during this period. Rather than a simple flat serving plate, this piece has an elaborate sculptural form inspired by a shell or stylized leaf. Deeply molded Rococo-style scrolls sweep down from the raised upper edge, while additional relief work frames the sides. Delicate blue, lavender, yellow and white flowers decorate the lower portion of the dish, accented by ornate gilt detailing that catches the light across the molded porcelain surface. K. Steinmann operated an important porcelain factory and decorating works at Tiefenfurt in historic Silesia.
