3850. Hand-carved wooden owl featuring intricate openwork carving throughout the body with a smaller baby owl carved inside. The smaller owl can be seen through the pierced feather design and was carved within the larger owl rather than inserted afterward. Features large round eyes, detailed feather patterns, carved wings and feet, and a warm brown finish with darker accents that highlight the carving. This style of openwork carving is commonly associated with traditional Indian jali carving. No original maker's mark or manufacturer label is present. A handwritten piece of tape stating “Made in India” was previously attached but is not an original manufacturer's label, so exact origin is not confirmed. Condition: Pre-owned with normal surface wear, finish variations, scratches and areas of roughness along the intricate openwork. Hand-carved pieces may naturally have variations and irregularities.
