Vintage Gruen 550SS Automatic A fantastic mid-century Gruen dating to approximately 1956–1959. This model features the desirable 17-jewel Gruen 550SS automatic movement, based on the Swiss Felsa 1560 caliber. The “SS” refers to Sweep Second, and these Swiss-sourced movements represent an interesting period in Gruen’s history. The dial has aged to a beautiful cream patina, giving this watch wonderful vintage character. Its classic midcentury design offers plenty of collector appeal.
