Product Details

Charming antique copy of Good for the Soul by Margaret Deland, published by Harper & Brothers as part of the publisher’s collectible “Little Books by Famous Writers” series. This appears to be the 1899 first separate edition of the story, which had previously appeared in Deland’s 1898 collection Old Chester Tales. The petite blue-green cloth binding is especially attractive, with white-stamped classical border details and elegant script lettering. A wonderful small-format antique book for Cottagecore, bookish decor, Old World Library, or literary collecting. The advertising page for the series is present and notes that these little books originally sold for fifty cents per volume. Condition shows age-related wear including rubbing to the cloth, edge and corner wear, and general surface wear. Please review photos closely for condition.
