This striking Art Deco/Retro Signet Ringfeatures a beautiful molded Black Glass Intaglio of a Roman Soldier Centurion in sharp profile. Most importantly, the inner band features a crisp, distinct "OB STERLING" hallmark, authenticating it as a creation of the famous Ostby & Barton Co. of Providence, RI. The firm’s co-founder, elite jeweler Engelhart Cornelius Ostby, famously perished on the Titanic in 1912, making any signed piece bearing this mark a deeply coveted piece of wearable history. Condition Note: This is a true, unpolished estate find. It features a deep, gorgeous natural silver patina that emphasizes its architectural shoulders. Consistent with its great antique age, the black glass face shows minor vintage flea bites/micro-scratchesupon close inspection. We have left it entirely original to preserve its character!
