Product Details

Vintage hardcover with minimal wear. Sold as is. Psychology Arthur Janov introduced the psychological concept of Primal Therapy in his groundbreaking 1970 publication, "The Primal Scream," which gained immense cultural attention and a massive following. "The Primal Revolution," published by Simon and Schuster in 1972, served as a major follow-up text that expanded upon his theories regarding neurosis, trauma, and societal conditioning. Janov argued that psychological healing required patients to directly re-experience and express deep-seated childhood pain rather than merely intellectualize it. During the 1970s, Janov's Primal Institute in Los Angeles attracted high-profile figures, most notably musician John Lennon, which catapulted primal therapy into mainstream pop culture consciousness. Simon and Schuster capitalized on this widespread fascination by producing substantial hardcover print runs of Janov's successive books.
