Vintage c. 1960s–1980s Limoges China blue transferware plate, measuring approximately 7" in diameter. Such a pretty little piece—the elaborate cobalt decoration combines overflowing florals, scrolling borders and romantic architectural landscape scenes, with areas of beautifully softened blue that give it the appearance of early Flow Blue. Marked on the reverse with the gold fleur-de-lis “LIMOGES CHINA” backstamp. Despite the name, this mark is associated with later Asian/Chinese export porcelain rather than the historic porcelain factories of Limoges, France. I would describe the decoration as Flow Blue-style transferware rather than true antique Flow Blue. The scalloped edge and incredibly busy blue-and-white pattern make this one particularly good for layering into an ironstone or antique transferware display. 7" diameter.
