The central lid is decorated with intricate Tazhib (miniature illumination painting) featuring multi-colored floral blossoms and scrolling vine patterns against deep crimson and midnight blue lacquered panels. The side borders and end caps feature geometric Khatamkari micro-marquetry consisting of inlaid camel bone, tinted wood, and fine brass wire triangles arranged into traditional six-pointed stars. True to its utilitarian purpose as a scribe's desk piece, the box features a clean, unlined natural wood interior to smoothly accommodate bamboo reed pens and inkwells, complemented by a smooth, unmarked protective veneer base. *call outs- small chip in wood on one corner, some overlay material missing/raised on top
