Original 1917 first printing of "Notes on Training for Rifle Fire in Trench Warfare," compiled from foreign reports by the Army War College, April 1917, published by the Government Printing Office, Washington. Marked "CONFIDENTIAL — For Use of Officers Only" on the title page (a wartime designation long since declassified). Issued the same month the United States entered World War I, this pamphlet compiled British and French frontline lessons on trench rifle marksmanship for American officers. Complete at 21 pages, illustrated with technical sketches including a captured German fixed rifle rest for firing through loopholes and the horizontal clock-face target-designation system. Original green printed wrappers, staple-bound. Condition is consistent with age and wartime groundwood paper: cover shows water staining, edge wear, and a creased corner; interior pages are toned with scattered foxing but complete and sound, text fully legible.
