Handmade tied patchwork quilt featuring a bold red and cream checkerboard design. The front alternates solid red fabric squares with cream printed squares featuring pastoral toile-style scenes with flowers, foliage, birds and other scenic details. Red thread/yarn ties secure the layers at the block intersections. The reverse features a colorful red paisley print in shades of teal, blue, green, gold and brown, which is also used around the outer edge. This quilt has notable wear to the paisley backing. There are areas of significant fabric deterioration, including holes, fraying, worn/thin fabric and fabric loss. Edge/corner wear is also present. The front displays considerably better, making this a nice candidate for farmhouse or cottage display, layering, textile repurposing, restoration, or use where the distressed backing is not a concern. Condition: Good display condition on the front with wear and damage to the back. Backing has hole and thinning/worn areas.
