Product Details

This is an antique embossed glass bottle from Lo. Lowenstein & Co for Old Harvest Corn Whiskey from Cincinnati, Ohio. This is an authentic late 19th-century (circa 1880–1890s) pre-Prohibition whiskey flask. Dr. Julius Lowenstein arrived in Statesville, NC in 1884. A German immigrant, Lowenstein was a dentist by trade but soon found distilling whiskey much more profitable. His Old Harvest Corn Whiskey became very popular. While the company was primarily headquartered in Statesville, North Carolina (then considered a massive regional hub for spirits), they also operated a rectification and distribution branch out of Cincinnati, Ohio, which is exactly where this specific variant was blown and distributed. The bottle glows a nice green under a 365 blacklight. There are bubbles in the glass from the blowing of hot glass into a colder mold and some clouding or "sickening" from reaction with minerals in the ground or from prolonged exposure to moisture.
