Product Details

Beautiful matching pair of authentic Vintage 1940s Benton Glass Company “Giddyap!” 3D-effect narrative silhouette pictures, featuring a continuous historical horse-and-carriage transportation story. This compact 4" x 6" companion set depicts two wonderfully detailed scenes. One features a public Royal Mail Coach charging along a country road past a tavern sign, while its companion depicts a private town carriage pulling to a halt at a picturesque village estate. The intricate jet-black silhouettes are reverse-painted directly onto the inner surface of the curved convex bubble glass panels, then layered over separate vibrant multi-colored card background prints. The backgrounds form a complementary panoramic landscape of rolling mountains, countryside, trees, cottages and softly colored skies, creating the wonderful dimensional shadowbox effect associated with Benton Glass silhouette artwork. The remarkable foreground detail includes four-horse teams, harnesses, carriage wheels, coachmen, passengers, roadside foliage, architecture and the hanging tavern sign. Both pieces retain their original thin brass-gold tone metal channel frames, including original corner taping and upper hanging tabs.
