Product Details

Charming matching pair of Vintage Mid Century 3D high-relief wall plaques featuring an elaborately dressed gentleman and lady inspired by late 17th-century Baroque court fashion. The gentleman wears a dramatic feathered hat, doublet, tall boots and flowing period clothing, while the lady is depicted in an elaborate gown with a ruff collar and folding fan. Both figures are rendered in dimensional cream-colored molded plastic with deeply sculpted high-relief detailing, giving the artwork wonderful depth and shadow. Each figure is mounted against a soft dusty blue background and displayed beneath beautiful dimensional convex bubble glass. An intricate reverse-painted black floral and scrolling border decorates the perimeter of each glass panel, creating a dramatic contrast against the blue and cream composition. The pair is completed by matching gold-painted wood frames, giving them a wonderfully ornate vintage appearance. Dating approximately to the 1940s–1950s, these have fantastic Baroque Revival, Rococo Revival, Victorian Revival and romantic vintage decor appeal. The combination of dimensional molded figures, reverse-painted decoration and original convex glass makes them far more visually interesting than a standard flat framed print. Perfect for collectors of convex bubble glass, 3D wall plaques, molded plastic wall art, courting couples, Baroque decor, Rococo Revival, Victorian Revival, high relief art, reverse painted glass, gilt frames, vintage shadowbox art and romantic period decor.
