Product Details

Beautiful matching pair of Vintage Mid Century 3D-effect nautical silhouette pictures featuring a wonderful maritime Sea Captain / Sailor and Son story beneath original convex bubble glass. The 4" x 6" companion scenes depict an old bearded sea captain and young boy along the ocean shore. One shows the pair together gazing out across the water, with the boy carrying binoculars, while the companion scene captures the captain presenting the boy with a masted sailing ship model. The detailed black silhouettes are reverse-painted directly onto the inner surface of the curved convex bubble glass, then layered over separate colorful scenic background prints. This construction creates a wonderful dimensional effect, making the figures appear to float in front of the seascape. The backgrounds feature dramatic ocean sunsets and rolling waves in beautiful shades of orange, yellow, blue and aqua, giving the pair a warm nostalgic coastal appearance. Both pieces retain their original thin metal frames featuring a distinctive diagonally striped brass and copper tone border, adding another fantastic Mid Century detail.
