True to early multi-scene Staffordshire series, Ralph Hall adjusted the landscape composition slightly across different sized vessels (for instance, larger platters in this pattern feature prominent grazing cows or sailboats). Ralph Hall was an prominent English earthenware manufacturer who operated the Swan Bank Works in Tunstall, Staffordshire, from 1822 to 1849. He initially potted in partnership with his brother John before establishing his independent firm, which later became Ralph Hall & Son and subsequently Ralph Hall & Co.
