1879, John Marshal & Co. (Scotland), Bosphorus pattern, 11” x 8.75” platter Around the edge is a band with scalloping and beads. Around the rim are stylized peonies, lilies and other small flowers with leaves. The Bosphorus Strait divides the center scene. There are tall trees and shrubbery at the right. In the foreground are two figures on a tiered platform by the shore. On the opposite bank, is a mosque with a minaret. In the distance are additional buildings and mountains. The Strait of Bosphorus connects the Black Sea and Marmara Sea. John Marshall (& Co.) (Ltd.) This potter ran the Bo ness Pottery in Bo ness, Scotland from 1854-1899.
