This is a solid brass candle snuffer featuring a long slender turned handle with a decorative knop finial and a fluted, scallop-shell style bell for extinguishing candle flames. The piece is unmarked, typical of the many decorative brass hearth and candle accessories imported from India or produced in England and the United States for the home furnishings market. Based on the casting, turned handle detail, and warm aged patina, it dates to the mid-20th century, circa 1950–1970.
