A collection of historical investigations and unusual episodes drawn from French history, focusing on crimes, assassinations, political intrigue and police cases. One chapter shown concerns François Ravaillac, the assassin of King Henry IV of France. French-language edition in a decorative leather binding with gilt and black spine decoration, raised bands and gilt title. The limitation statement indicates an edition that included a small number of specially printed copies on various fine papers.
