Unable to find online Unusual vintage aqua-blue pressed-glass open salt cellar depicting a chicken with dramatically outstretched wings. A raised basket-weave receptacle in the center was designed to hold table salt and could now also be used for toothpicks, matches, or small trinkets. The piece features finely molded feather details, a woven-basket texture around the central well, and a wide oval pedestal base with vertical ribbing. Its bright aqua color becomes noticeably fluorescent under ultraviolet light. The glow may indicate manganese or another glass additive; the composition has not been professionally tested. This form is attributed to the French Vallérysthal/Portieux glassworks and is commonly associated with early-to-mid-20th-century Art Deco tableware. No maker’s mark was shown, so the attribution and age cannot be guaranteed.
