Wonderful vintage Shenango China teapot made in New Castle, Pennsylvania. This eye-catching piece features a brilliant glossy red exterior with white interior, chunky squared handle, short angular spout and its original sculptural fitted lid with steam vent. The underside carries the early circular SHENANGO CHINA – NEW CASTLE, PA backstamp with “CHINA” through the center and the additional number 251. This particular Shenango mark is documented as having been used circa the 1920s–1940s on ovenware, teapots and creamers, making this a fantastic piece of early American commercial china.
