Product Details

The Liberty Blue dinnerware set was produced during the 1970s to commemorate the United States Bicentennial, drawing immense popularity across American households. Manufactured in Staffordshire, England, the series featured historical colonial scenes printed in a rich cobalt blue transferware technique on white ironstone blanks. Each piece in the collection depicted a different famous American landmark, combining traditional English pottery methods with patriotic themes. Transferware itself has a rich history dating back to the mid-18th century in England, where copperplate engraving allowed intricate designs to be transferred onto ceramics. The process became a cornerstone of Staffordshire pottery production, prized for its durability and detailed pictorial narratives. Although produced in large quantities for the Bicentennial celebrations, these sets remain enduring favorites for collectors of Americana and vintage tableware.
