Beautiful vintage Russian lacquer miniature trinket box from Kholui, one of Russia’s celebrated centers of traditional lacquer miniature painting. This charming oval box features an exceptionally detailed hand-painted architectural scene with ornate gates, towers, churches and lush landscape elements rendered in rich shades of red, green, gold, cream and earthy brown against a glossy black lacquer background. Even more special, this piece retains its original paper factory tag from 1991, identifying it as a product of the Kholui Art Workshops in the Ivanovo region of the RSFSR (Soviet Russia).
