Product Details

Morgan Dennis was an acclaimed American artist and illustrator best known for his charming and anatomically precise depictions of dogs, particularly Scottish Terriers and Bulldogs. Born in Boston in 1892, he studied under Hans Hofmann and established a prolific career illustrating books, magazines, and prominent corporate advertising campaigns throughout the mid-20th century. His signature canine characters became beloved cultural icons, frequently lending warmth and personality to commercial products. During the 1940s, breweries often commissioned renowned fine artists to create high-quality promotional art that customers would proudly display in their homes. The James Hanley Company of Providence, Rhode Island, partnered with Dennis to produce a series of endearing bulldog prints to market their ales and lagers. These prints were distributed as promotional premiums to patrons and distributors, blending commercial branding with classic fine art illustration.
