These pieces are from the 2001 Fleer / Atelier America Brushstrokes Fine Art Sports Collection, created through a collaboration between Fleer Trading Cards and Atelier America, Inc. Unlike traditional baseball cards, the Brushstrokes collection was designed as 5" × 7" fine-art baseball collectibles, featuring richly textured, oil-on-canvas-style artwork that gives each portrait the appearance and character of an original sports painting. Each player was produced in a strictly limited edition of only 2,100 pieces, with individual numbering documented on the accompanying Declaration of Authenticity. INCLUDED IN THIS 3-PIECE SET: BABE RUTH – New York Yankees “The Sultan of Swat” and one of the most recognizable figures in the history of American sports. LOU GEHRIG – New York Yankees “The Iron Horse,” Yankees legend and one of baseball's most beloved Hall of Famers. The pieces feature the distinctive Fleer logo and gold-tone presentation border, giving the collection an elegant display appearance that is very different from a conventional trading card. The reverse includes the Declaration of Authenticity, player information, Fleer and MLB licensing information, and the individual limited-edition numbering.
