Beautiful vintage Rococo Revival jewelry or keepsake box featuring a reproduction of Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun’s 1784 royal portrait of Marie-Thérèse Charlotte of France and her younger brother Louis Joseph, Dauphin of France, children of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. Ornate gold-tone exterior with embossed scrollwork, decorative border, petite raised feet and front clasp. Interior is lined in rich green fabric with an embossed decorative underside to the lid. Original label remains on the bottom identifying the artwork, although the wording on the vintage label appears to differ from the modern museum identification of the painting. Wonderful vintage vanity piece with strong French Provincial, Rococo Revival and Marie Antoinette aesthetic. Vintage condition with age-related wear, including wear/loss to the underside finish near the original label. Please review photos for condition.
