Product Details

Vintage 1956 hardcover copy of Farewell the Stranger by Saliee O’Brien, published by William Morrow & Company, New York. A wonderful old historical novel with an especially striking mid-century illustrated dust jacket depicting a pioneer couple. The story is set beginning in 1808 St. Louis and follows a woman who marries a widowed stranger and travels west to make a new life with him and his children. Copyright 1956 by Frankie-Lee Zelley, who wrote under the pen name Saliee O’Brien. The warm rust/red hardcover and wonderfully worn illustrated jacket make this an especially good piece for primitive, pioneer, old library or collected-home styling. Condition: Vintage and sold as found. The original dust jacket is heavily worn and fragile, with substantial tears, losses/chipping, separated areas along the spine/edges, creasing and age discoloration. Hardcover beneath presents much better with expected age wear. Pages show normal age toning. Please review all photos carefully—the tatter
