Vintage Rigby Plastic Models Inc. Pan American Airways Douglas DC-8 Jet Clipper "Flying Cloud" flying plastic model, dating to approximately the late 1950s/early 1960s. Features classic Pan American / PAN AM graphics and aircraft registration N800PA. Produced from a printed rigid vinyl plastic sheet with the model pieces designed to be removed, folded, and assembled. The original sheet identifies it as a Rigby Flying Plastic Model and notes authorization by Pan American Airways and Douglas Aircraft. This example appears to remain largely unassembled with many of the original pieces still attached to the sheet, making it especially appealing to vintage aviation, airline memorabilia, and model collectors. Also includes the original illustrated assembly instruction sheet from Rigby Plastic Models Inc., New York. Condition is vintage and sold as found. The model sheet shows age-related wear but presents very well overall. The instruction sheet has noticeable age toning, edge wear, tears, creasing, and some areas of paper loss. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition and completeness. A scarce piece of early Pan Am / Douglas DC-8 aviation memorabilia and an unusual survivor from the beginning of the commercial jet age. Sold as-is, unassembled and untested for completeness.
