Striking vintage Sarah Coventry “Light of the East” brooch, dating to 1968. This ornate mid-century design features five dimensional oval mosaic-style panels arranged in a quatrefoil/floral formation on an openwork gold-tone setting. Each raised panel is intricately decorated with vivid cobalt blue flowers, deep red and green foliate accents, and glossy black enamel, creating the appearance of miniature Persian or Middle Eastern mosaic tiles. The combination of rich jewel tones, black detailing and bright gold-tone metal gives the piece a beautiful Byzantine-inspired appearance. The reverse is signed © SARAH COV, with a secure rollover pin closure. Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
