Gorgeous vintage heavy art glass ashtray in a beautiful smoky mauve/amethyst color. Features a thick sculptural clear outer casing with the mauve color appearing suspended within the glass, creating a wonderful sommerso-style effect. Heavy rounded form with three pulled/notched cigarette rests and beautiful optical depth around the rim. Approx. 5" across. Unmarked. The construction and styling are reminiscent of mid-century Italian/Murano sommerso glass, but maker and country of origin are unknown and no Murano attribution is guaranteed. Beautiful displayed as art glass and equally lovely repurposed as a catchall or trinket dish.
