Tiny, unusual, and full of character — this vintage uranium glass miniature dish features an engraved or wheel-cut horse-and-hounds hunting scene beneath a tree. The thick green glass is formed in a small octagonal shape with broad beveled sides, giving it a polished Art Deco-era look. Under UV light, the glass fluoresces a vivid yellow-green consistent with uranium glass. At just 2.5" × 2.5" × approximately 0.5" high, this is a petite piece. It may originally have served as a miniature ashtray, pin dish, desk tray, or small trinket dish. The sporting scene depicts a mounted rider with hunting hounds and gives the piece considerably more personality than a plain uranium-glass ashtray. The maker has not been identified. Based on the form, glass color, decorative treatment, and subject matter, I would date it broadly to the interwar / Depression-era period, approximately 1930s–40s. European manufacture is possible, but not confirmed. A wonderful little crossover collectible for lovers of uranium glass, equestrian and fox-hunt imagery, sporting antiques, Art Deco glass, or unusual vintage desk and vanity pieces.
