Product Details

1856 Seated Liberty Half — No Arrows Philadelphia. No mint mark. First year arrows come off. Raw. Grade: XF details, wiped. Sharp date and stars. LIBERTY on the shield. Gown and claw detail there. Eagle feathers up. Bright from an old clean — hairlines in the fields. Looks like AU at arm’s length; call it XF details. .900 silver. 12.44 g. ASW 0.360 oz. Mintage only 938,000 — tighter than the 1854/55 arrows coins. Obv: Seated Liberty, cap and pole, 1856, no arrows. Rev: Eagle, shield, HALF DOL. 1856: The Mint drops the arrows. Same lighter weight, no warning marks. Brooks canes Sumner on the Senate floor. Bleeding Kansas. Frémont runs — first Republican ticket. Buchanan wins. This is the new-look half from that year. Scarcer P-mint. Type change. Cleaned, still a real XF coin. Thanks for supporting the small guy and his Rare Coin Kiosk - Buy it NOW!
