Product Details

In 1942, legendary WWI flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker was traveling across the Pacific on a secret wartime mission when his B-17 was forced down at sea. Rickenbacker and the other survivors spent more than three weeks drifting in life rafts, battling starvation, dehydration, exposure, sharks, and the open Pacific before rescue. Seven Came Through is Rickenbacker’s own account of that ordeal, published in 1943 while World War II was still raging. Rickenbacker was already one of America’s most famous aviators — a World War I flying ace, Medal of Honor recipient, and major figure in early American aviation — which makes this firsthand wartime narrative especially compelling. What makes this copy exceptional is the bold Edward V. Rickenbacker signature on the front endpaper, dated 1962. It also retains the original illustrated dust jacket and includes period photographic material inside.
