Product Details

Antique Goofus glass decorative portrait plate featuring a raised profile of a woman surrounded by an ornate molded scrollwork border. The pressed glass is cold-painted in rich red, gold, and dark metallic tones, giving the reverse an almost metal-like appearance. Goofus glass was popular in the early 20th century and is known for its unfired painted finish, which commonly flakes and wears with age. This example has significant finish loss and patina, clearly visible in the photos, but retains a wonderfully dramatic antique appearance. Approx. 8” diameter. Maker and exact pattern are currently unidentified. Antique condition with substantial paint/finish loss, oxidation-like discoloration, scratches, and age-related wear. Please review photos closely. All antique and vintage items are sold as-is and final sale.
