A pretty single for a Chinese export shelf or under a mismatched cup. SPECS: Approx 6 in diameter, porcelain with enamelled famille rose decoration and orange rim line. Backstamp: MADE IN CHINA in red seal form. HISTORY: Rose Medallion, the Canton export pattern of figures and birds in alternating cartouches, was made from the mid-nineteenth century onward. The English-language Made in China stamp places this piece in the twentieth-century export runs, before or after the mid-century gap in trade; the exact decade is left open.
