Product Details

Specs | A large footed bowl, punch or centrepiece scale, with a hand-coloured transfer of wild briar roses in pink and yellow, lavender leaves, and turquoise and red berry dots, decorated inside and out. Approx. 10 in. diameter (confirm), approx. 5.5 in. tall (confirm). Base bears hand-painted red pattern numbers 4757/4, 3771, 752; no maker's mark. | History | Outline transfer with hand-applied enamel colour was the Aesthetic Movement's favourite trick for making pottery look painted at a fraction of the cost; the loose briar and rose subject and the raised foot are typical of English work c.1880-1900 (estimated, unmarked; painted pattern numbers only). | Condition | Gilt at the rim is worn to a speckle; unglazed foot rim shows old edge chipping and grit; light crazing and a few glaze specks. Tap test pending. Sold as found; please review every photo. Stay crazed, darlings.
