Antique Persian/Middle Eastern Style Snuff or Trinket Box – Hand-Painted Mother of Pearl Hunting Scene Beautiful antique/vintage small round box featuring a hand-painted equestrian/hunting scene on genuine iridescent mother-of-pearl. The box has an intricately engraved decorative floral/scroll band around the exterior and a highly iridescent mother-of-pearl interior beneath the lid. Measurements: Approximately 2 1/4" diameter Weight: Approximately 2 oz The metal is non-magnetic. I have not had the metal professionally tested, so I am not representing this as sterling silver or solid silver. It appears to be a silver-colored/patinated metal, possibly silver-plated over a base metal such as brass. I believe this is an early 20th-century Persian/Middle Eastern style snuff, pill or small trinket box, but please examine all photographs carefully and make your own determination regarding age and origin. Condition: Antique/vintage condition with age-related wear, patina, surface marks and discoloration. The painted mother-of-pearl scene shows wear consistent with age.
