Product Details
We are offering this vintage Heuer Regatta automatic yacht timer, reference 134.505, dating to the early 1980s. This 40mm example features a stainless steel case with a gold-plated fixed bezel, black dial, and its original stainless steel bracelet with gold-tone details. The Regatta was designed specifically for yacht racing, using a highly visible 10-minute countdown system to help time the start of a race. The reference 134.505 is distinguished by its black dial and gold-plated bezel, while its companion reference 134.500 was offered with a silver dial and steel bezel. This self-winding watch is powered by the Lemania caliber 1345 automatic movement with 17 jewels. Its most distinctive function is the five-aperture regatta countdown display positioned across the upper portion of the dial, accompanied by the large orange central countdown hand. When the countdown mechanism is activated, the five circular indicators progressively change color to provide an immediate visual indication of the 10-minute countdown period. This system was specifically designed to make the remaining time easy to read during the preparations for the start of a yacht race. The black dial features applied luminous hour markers, luminous hands, a white outer minute track, and the contrasting orange central hand. It is signed with the HEUER shield beneath 12 o’clock and “REGATTA AUTOMATIC 100 METRES” above 6 o’clock. The stainless steel case features a fixed gold-plated bezel secured with exposed steel screws and is rated to 100 meters. The watch is fitted with its original stainless steel Heuer bracelet with gold-tone screw details and signed folding clasp. This timepiece has been inspected by our in-house watchmaker and is running and keeping time.
