Product Details

Jackson wrote Ramona, first published in 1884, to draw attention to the mistreatment of Mission Indians in Southern California that she had already described in her 1881 book A Century of Dishonor and 1883 Report on the Conditions and Needs of the Mission Indians. Ramona was enormously popular. Though its immediate result was a wave of California tourism, rather than a cry of outrage, Jackson's work did ultimately influence reform legislation. This book has the first owners note inscription in pencil on first blank page. No missing pages. Spine ends are frayed, and corners are worn, but with a book this age it is still in good condition. Please see pictures. And ask any questions. Thanks for looking
