A genuine 1658-1805 Pirate Money Indonesia Pitis. This Indonesian Pitis Coin, was minted by the Palembang Sultanate, the ruling government of Indonesia from 1659 to 1823. The city of Palembang, where these coins were minted, was one of the major ports on the Strait of Malacca. This strait which runs between Indonesia and Singapore, has a long history with piracy. Pirates would raid incoming ships for spices, cargo and money just like this coin. This coin has been graded and certified Genuine by NGC. (note to self: in coin box - #200)
