Featured is a very rare cabinet card with one picture displaying John Lawrence Sullivan, nicknamed "The Boston Strong Boy", was a prominent American boxer or "pugilist" and the first undisputed heavyweight champion to wear gloves. He reigned from 1882 to 1892 and is also considered the last bare-knuckle heavyweight champion. Born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Sullivan studied briefly at Boston College before turning professional in 1878. He was a versatile athlete who also played semi-professional baseball in the Boston area.
