My grandparents founded the Lisa Jewels Company in the early '60's in Orange, NJ. Lisa Jewels competed with Sarah Cov, Avon, Trifari and other high quality costume jewelry companies. My "Nani" used to design and/or buy the jewelry from Rhode Island and was in charge of the mostly female sales force who sold via the hosted parties system. My "PopPop" ran the business side. Together they made an unstoppable team that ran a successful company which lasted over 25 years, put my uncles through college and provided a very nice living for my extensed family during those years. Unfortunately by the mid-80's, women were switching to precious metals and daintier pieces and many costume jewelry companies struggled. Lisa Jewels ended in the late 1980's but the style and quality of many of their pieces have endured and certainly instilled a love for vintage costume in me!!
