Product Details

Extremely Rare Fossilized Turtle Coracoid – Lance Formation, Wyoming Late Cretaceous (~66Mya+) This is an outstanding and intact fossilized coracoid (shoulder girdle bone) from a prehistoric turtle, discovered in the renowned Lance Formation of Niobrara County, Wyoming. The Lance Formation is famous for its rich Late Cretaceous fossil beds, preserving dinosaurs, turtles, and other reptiles from the final days before the end-Cretaceous mass extinction. Turtle coracoids from this formation are rare, and complete, well-preserved examples are especially scarce due to their delicate structure and the conditions needed for fossilization. This specimen displays excellent mineralization, fine anatomical detail, and the distinctive fan-shaped blade narrowing to the glenoid region where it once connected to the scapula. The coloration and patina showcase the well known Lance Formation preservation. *light preservation repair. Certificate of Authenticity will be included
