Product Details
A beautiful piece of petrified wood collected in Alabama, dating to the Holocene Epoch. This specimen preserves the natural grain and texture of the ancient tree, with silica mineralization replacing the original organic tissues. The result is a striking stone-like fossil that still carries the growth patterns of the wood it once was. Significance & Collectability • Locality: Alabama petrified wood is far less common on the fossil market than material from the western U.S. • Age: Unlike the more familiar Mesozoic and Paleozoic petrified wood, this piece comes from the Holocene, making it a young but still fully mineralized fossil. • Display Value: Its earthy tones and wood-grain preservation make it excellent as a natural décor piece or addition to a fossil/mineral collection.
