This vintage Edward Marshall Boehm Baby Goldfinch is number 448 in the Baby bird collection. Boehm was known for his artistic talent and the lifelike detail he brought to fine art porcelain. This little Goldfinch is a perfect example. Boehm's birds were the first to be formed of a porcelain comparable to that of European and Asian artworks. He developed a hard-paste, high-quality porcelain, and artistically detailed each piece in a matte bisque finish. This little bird is approximately 4 1/2 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches in diameter at the base. It is signed on the underside with the Boehm hallmark horse head, Made in U.S.A., #448. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. For Boehm collectors or bird collectors, this will be a wonderful addition.
