Plot / Synopsis The novel weaves together the stories of three main characters whose lives intersect in unexpected ways: • Colby Mills: Once had dreams of a musical career, but tragedy derailed those plans. He now helps run his family’s farm in North Carolina. When he needs a break, he takes a temporary gig in St. Pete Beach, Florida, where he meets someone who shakes up his world.  • Morgan Lee: Daughter of wealthy doctors from Chicago, she graduates from a prestigious music program and dreams of making it big (Nashville is her target). Her ambition and passion for music bring her in contact with Colby.  • Beverly (and her son): Fleeing from an abusive husband, she tries to start over in a small town with her young son. But danger, past trauma, limited resources, and fear complicate her path.
