🧰 Plot Summary (Non-Spoiler) • The story primarily follows Ava Wong, a conservative Chinese-American lawyer. She has a resume of “all the right moves”: law degree, marriage to a successful surgeon, toddler son, nice home—but she’s unhappy. Her career is on hold, her marriage is strained, and parenting is isolating her.  • Winnie Fang is Ava’s former college roommate from Mainland China. They weren’t especially close in college; Winnie left in disgrace after a cheating scandal. Twenty years later she reappears in Ava’s life—but she’s very different: wealthy, confident, and flaunting designer accessories.  • Winnie has built a business selling near-perfect knockoffs of luxury handbags. The scheme uses “superfakes”, importing near-exact replicas and manipulating return/refund systems in the U.S., then reselling fakes to buyers who believe them to be real.  • Winnie needs someone with a U.S. identity / passport, someone people wouldn’t suspect, to help with logistics….
