Carnival glass, also known as iridescent glass or Tiffany glass (though not related to Louis Comfort Tiffany's work), is a type of glass that was produced from the early 20th century. It is characterized by its shimmering, iridescent surface, achieved by applying a metallic salt solution to the glass while it was still hot. This technique created a vibrant, rainbow-like effect that made the glass highly desirable. Imperial Glass Company, founded in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio, was a major producer of carnival glass, with patterns like "Lustre Rose" being among their most popular. These decorative glass items were often sold at carnivals and fairs, hence the name, and were widely collected for their beauty and affordability.
