Exceptional antique Victorian-era woven hair watch chain featuring intricate multi-strand hairwork, ornate gold-tone fittings, and a traditional T-bar. Suspended from the chain is a detailed shield-form medallion with engraved decoration and colorful enamel “FLT” lettering. FLT is traditionally associated with “Friendship, Love and Truth” and 19th-century fraternal symbolism; exact attribution is unverified. The reverse features a striking enamel eye motif surrounded by engraved radiating rays. A wonderfully unusual piece of Victorian symbolic jewelry with beautiful craftsmanship and mysterious imagery.
